Alicia M. Puckett

Alicia M. Puckett, 82, passed away early Feb 23, 2019 at St. Francis hospital in Bartlett after a short illness. She was born in Anniston Alabama, on September 19, 1936 to Claude Emmett Moody and Mary Frances Moody. She is survived by her sons Tom Hobbs (Cheryl) of Springville AL, Rick Hobbs (Gina) of Memphis TN, Mike Hobbs (Debbie) of Johnson City TN, Chris Hobbs (Lauren) of Jasksonville AL. Also ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Alicia graduated from Jacksonville State University with a degree in science in secondary education and a master degree in Master of Arts from the University of GA. She started her career teaching high school English at Jacksonville High School in Alabama. While pursuing her masters, she was a Director at Madision County Mental Health Center. After moving to Memphis she worked as an editor for the University Press at Memphis State. She continued in that capacity when she start working for Federal Express in 1982 and later becoming a manager with Corporate Publications. After 23 years of dedicated service, Alicia retired in 1999. Alicia had a great love for her family and church (Holy Communion). She was a long time member of Gailor Guild. She was a mentor for EFM for 10 years. She was on several Kairos Prison Ministry teams and a lay leader for one. She taught a number of small group studies like companions in Christ and disciples in Christ. She was also a Lay Eucharist minister, bring communion to those who were sick or who could not come to Sunday services. The family will be present to friends on Thursday at 12:00 pm in the parish hall, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Memorials to Church of the Holy Communion or St. Jude children’s Hospital will be appreciated.
