Howard Lamar Bishop

September 16, 1946 - May 21, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Howard Lamar Bishop announces his passing on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the age of 75 years. He was born in Memphis, TN on September 16, 1946 to Preston Lamar Bishop and Hazel Bishop (Whitehurst) and was one of four children. Howard grew up in Memphis, TN and married his high school sweetheart Marcia Bishop (McNeese) in 1968. They moved to Olive Branch, MS in the early 1990s where they lived until Marcia passed away from COVID in December 2020. Howard was an avid sportsman who played basketball for Kingsbury HS and later in life enjoyed racquetball, golf, fishing, hunting, water skiing, and scuba diving. For many years he taught Scuba at The Dive Shop in Memphis, which was owned by his wife’s family. He was also a salesman who worked in the Turf, Landscape, and Garden industry for most of his life including a longtime position working for BWI, Inc. where he retired as a vice-president of sales. Howard was predeceased by his parents, his brothers John and Harry, and his sister Dorothy. He is survived by his son Brian Bishop [Niamh Chambers] of Boston, MA. He will also be fondly remembered by his surviving in-laws and their families: Carl Thompson, Doug McNeese, Jr. [Kathy], Diana Savoie [Louis], Sandra Johnson, and Deborah Morley [Jim]. Due to the impacts of the continuing pandemic, a private celebration of life for Howard and Marcia Bishop will be held in the coming months.
