JOHN EDWARD LYON, JR., 58, passed away peacefully December 26, 2014, at his home in Byhalia, MS, after a brief illness. John was born August 26, 1956, in Memphis, TN. A long-time member of Church of the Holy Communion, John earned his Eagle Scout award there as a part of Troop 219. He graduated from White Station High School and went on to earn a Master's degree at University of Colorado where he loved the mountains, skiing, and the outdoors. John worked for FedEx in Information Technology for thirty-one years and was instrumental in the development of the FedEx Courier Super Tracker and most recently the IROADS project. Preceded in death by his father John Edward Lyon, his nephew, Brandon Mallory Lyon and his niece, Laura Elizabeth Lubiani, John is survived by the love of his life, his wife of twenty years Tonya Turnbull Lyon. He is also survived by his mother Elizabeth Chamberlin Lyon, sister, Laura Lyon Sampietro (Michael); two brothers, David Mallory Lyon (Lisa) and Robert Joseph Lyon (Melissa); three nieces, two great-nephews, and two great-nieces, along with many other friends, family, and of course, his pups Jim and Ruby. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, at Church of the Holy Communion, 4645 Walnut Grove Rd., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform a random act of kindness - plant a tree or rescue a puppy in John's memory, or make a donation to the charity of your choice.
