Michael Rainey Homeyer

Mike Homeyer passed away January 15, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital at the age of 57 due to complications from COVID. He was born December 11, 1964 in Indianola, Mississippi and grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi. He moved to Arlington, TN in 2005 and then to Memphis in 2018. He attended Mississippi Delta Junior College where he studied Criminal Justice. He worked in the security field throughout his life at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, MS; CCA prison system in MS and TN; and a juvenile facility in Memphis. Mike never met a person he didn’t call friend. He was a huge Ole Miss Rebel fan. He loved to camp and fish. He also enjoyed attending concerts, movies, and going out with family and friends. He was a devoted son to his Mother and doted on his two Nephews, Ray and Alex. He is survived by his Mother, Martha Wilkins of Memphis; his sister, Renée Butts (Kevin and Alex) of Arlington, TN; his nephew, Ray Mann, Jr. (Alex); and his father, Rainey Homeyer (Nell) of Memphis. He is preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Estrada. He leaves a huge extended family including aunts Dorothy Storey and Sandra Baskette both of Memphis. Due to the uptick in COVID only a private memorial service for the family will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association or the charity you hold dear to you.
